Abstract

Abstract The development of digital pattern processing techniques is influenced by the emergence of pattern pro- cessing softwares, which on of them is JBatik with the characteristics of overlapping and repetitive patterns formed from the use of fractal formulas, so that it has the potential as a processing media for the composition of patterns combined with other pattern processing software in creating pattern modules. This study aims to combine the potential of the advantages and disadvantages of each digital software to efficiently compose new patterns inspired by Paksi Naga Liman. The data search method used is qualitative and quantitative methods in the form of literature studies, interviews, observations, and conducting experiments. The results obtained from this study are the incorporation of the potential of the motive visualiza- tion character from CorelDraw vector-based software to process pattern variations and the potential use of fractal formula features on JBatik to create new pattern compositions making the processing of patterns to be efficient with easy pro- cessing. Getting inspiration from one of Indonesia's unique classic ornaments, Paksi Naga Liman, it is expected to be able to make a variety of new patterns with different visualization characters and compositions to be applied to textile products.
